Version 2

Centering and calming God,

Sometimes we feel like our minds are both everywhere and nowhere at all – we’re filled with such a jumble of tasks and reminders and to-do alerts, all pinging against the walls of our heads.

We ask, God, that in these few moments before us, your peace and your guidance would sort and place these thoughts where they ought to be. It seems like every tiny thing in our lives looms large, that we’re surrounded by giant assignments and relationships and worries. Help us, God, to put aside the things that can wait, and to let the ones that need our attention receive the action they deserve. Help us sort these things out.

Help us breathe slowly, remembering times in the past when we’ve been a ball of anxiety and you’ve untangled our lives and worries, remembering these things zipping around in our brains are not our lives, but little single slices of our lives – we’ll take them on as we’re able, one at a time.

With your holy breath, clear our minds….With your purifying Spirit, cleanse our souls… With your gentle presence, calm our hearts…Help us, God, in the confusion or the jumble to focus on what really, really, matters.

Thank you, God, for the ways you center us and bring us back to life – to the real, the important, and the true. May we go about the rest of this day focused on you and grounded in your peace. In the name of One who offers a peace deeper than our understanding…

Amen.

  2. Thank you again for your meaningful prayer….I shared it in our Prayer Conference this morning for our cousin, Jan Quinn who has been suffering from 4th stage neuroendocrine cancer, and her son has organized this conference for family and friends. We have joined at 9:30 Central Time for about a year on Saturday mornings. She lives near Atlanta, Georgia and her son, James lives in Concord, CA—-he spent the past week with her and his father, Jim. Thanks again for your crafted words!! Blessings, Gene
