Loving Jesus,

Thank you for your presence within me. It’s such a comfort, Lord, to know that whatever I have faced this week and whatever I will face in the coming days, I do so with your Spirit inside me.

I am not alone.

You have renewed me – the core of who I am breathes your empowering grace and my tongue tastes the sweetness of authentic peace. You promise, Jesus, that you’ve given me a spirit not of fear, but of “power, love, and self-discipline.”

I want to claim that promise today; that courage; that radical trust.

With your spirit within me, Lord, I remember that I am your hands and feet on this earth. I think of St. Teresa…Christ has no body but ours, no hands, no feet on earth, but ours…My eyes are the eyes with which you look in compassion on this world. Mine are the feet with which you walk to do good. Mine are the hands with which you bless this world.

This aching, hurting world.

I have nothing to offer but my brokenness, but you know well how to soothe through broken hands yourself. Hands that bleed and hold and love.

I pray your strength and presence, your love and hope, to fortify my body and soul for the day ahead. Please open my eyes to see what you want me to do, and then give me the courage to do what I see.

In your strength I pray, Lord Christ. Amen.

Scripture reference –

2 Timothy 1:7

  1. I love the prayer of st. Teresa of Avila. It has sustained me over the years.

  2. Thanks for the prayer—could you tell what is being photographed! Last evening we went to a visitation in Lennox for a friend’s husband who was killed in a one car accident this past week. We also had a meaningful time in out Cousin’s Support Prayer Group for our cousin in Atlanta—her son in CA sends out a preview, and then her brother also sends out a note and a special hymn-song that he shares at the conclusion of every session—-9:30 Central Time—1-877-466-3403 if you would like to join us some Saturday morning. Gratefully, Gene PS. I’ll forward my cousin’s e-mail previous to our conference—-the son, James Quinn does an excellent job of informing us and leading us.

    1. Oh Gene, I’m so sad and sorry to hear about your friend’s husband! What a tragedy. Thank you for sharing this information about the prayer group!
